‘Splash’ 16 September and beyond

What a journey we went on at Dolly’s on 16 September. It began in the genial company of Mac Dunlop, full of angst about cleaning the kitchen sink but then things got tough. There was a messy and shocking poem by Alex Callaghan of death and love and a story by Clare Reddaway on the same theme. We entered a more gentle landscape with Vicki Morley whose story foreshadowed death but told also of a life to come. We were refreshed with insightful poems by Sarah Valmai who confessed to a love of meat and her organic butcher, and the entertaining ‘aggregate possibilities’ of those by Duncan Yeates before Clare Howdle read a story she’d co-written about turkeys and domestic violence. Our companion at the end of the evening was Rupert Wallis whose tale about a lamb and an overcoat held us spell-bound.
The next Telltales is Wednesday 9 October 7.30pm at Dolly’s Bar (over the bookshop) in Falmouth.
Telltales presents ANDREW MULLIGAN prize winning author of ‘Trash’, ‘The Ribblestrop Trilogy’ and ‘The Boy with Two Heads’. Just back from filming ‘Trash’ with Stephen Daldry and Richard Curtis.
