Telltales July 2024 – The Great Outdoors – Submissions are open!
July 8th, 2024 | Published in Frontpage
Our theme for Telltales in July is The Great Outdoors.
We look forward to receive your submissions on this topic, interpreting the subject in any way.
Here are some ideas to get you thinking…
- What does The Great Outdoors mean to you?
- How might our ancestors have thought differently about the “natural world”?
- Can you describe a favourite place so that our audience feels that they, too, are there with you?
- Do we think of ourselves, as humans, as part of nature or separate from it?
- Does writing outdoors stimulate our creativity, like painting en plein air?
- The environmentalist Utah Phillips once wrote “The earth is not dying, it is being killed, and those who are killing it have names and addresses” – What was his intention?
- Can ecological writing raise awareness of important environmental issues?
How might you respond to our theme?
We’re keen to see your creative input, whether in poetry, prose, short story or an excerpt from a longer work. Please think in terms of a maximum of 10 minutes of reading or around 1500 words.
Please submit by Saturday 27 July to info@telltales.org.uk
Telltales takes place on Tuesday 30 July, 6pm at Falmouth Princess Pavilion in the Garden Room.
Thank you!
And here are the dates for future Telltales events in 2024 at Princess Pavilion: Tuesday 30 July, Tuesday 24 September, Tuesday 26 November
