Another great evening at Dolly’s. The room was buzzing thanks to a lively, appreciative audience and the performance of the following writers:-
Ellie Walsh, who could not be there in person but whose flash fiction inspired by Nepal was read beautifully by Johanna Egar
Anthony Hanbury-Williams, emerging poet, who’d raced back from Norfolk to read for us
Nancy Roth, exploring on the page the virtual world of online multiple player gaming
Des Hannigan, with poems evoking the power of the ocean and the drama of the Cornish coast from his latest book ‘The Almost Island’
Dominic Smyth, in whose short story the protagonist struggled with a difficult relationship
Johanna Egar, reading some of her own poetry full of emotion and meaning
Gail Owen, who kept us in suspense with an extract from her first novel, ‘The Out-of Towner’, which has attracted the interest of 2 literary agents
Gray Lightfoot, the performance poet and bus driver, with poems from his book ‘A View from The Cab’, and making us laugh – even at his suffering on a rough boat trip to the Scillies.
