Telltales “Textiles” at Falmouth Library – 23 July
June 13th, 2019 | Published in Frontpage
The theme for Tuesday 23 July at Falmouth Library is ‘Textiles’.
The curator for this event, Sarah Perry, chose this theme after reading Kassia St Clair’s wonderful book, The Golden Thread. How fabric changed history.
In it she explains that the word ‘text’ and ‘textile’ share the same common ancestor, the Latin ‘texere’ which means “to weave”.
Isn’t that lovely, all those words, weaving, fabric and fabricate… that connect fabric to story telling.
Also we encourage all sorts of writing. So far we haven’t heard any flash fiction, graphic novels or combining writing with another art form.
You can also submit a piece jointly with the opportunity of reading a piece together. The deadline is Monday 15 July.
